Here are some tips on what to do if your kombucha smells like acetone: 

• Prepare several batches with less sugar (50g per litre) and stir frequently.
• Filter the liquid that you use for preparing a new kombucha.
• Wash your Scoby thoroughly with water to get rid of the yeasts and the "old" stuff and start again
