If you want to take a break from brewing kefir or are going on holiday, you basically have three options:
- Shorter break: Prepare the kefir with milk as usual and simply let it stand. This method is suitable for absences of up to half a week. After that, you will have very sour milk kefir. Then simply tip it out and prepare it again.
- Longer break: Put the tubers together with some milk in a container and store in the refrigerator. This works for up to 4 weeks. After that, the kefir often needs one or two attempts to ferment optimally again.
- Kefir babysitter: The best solution for very long absences is to hand over the culture to a "babysitter".
